Life is a collection of series of memories, whether they are good or bad. This collection of memories has a way of creating several patterns in our life. The patterns become a system called templates. This is the limitation we discussed during the third session of Breaking Through Limits.
Think of a fire. Once you had a contact with live fire, you felt the heat. And that hurt you. You begin to store that in your memory. From that moment, your body automatically looks up for the pattern whenever there is a fire around you. Your body begins to shift in a motion that will securely avoid the fire.
All because your body understands that fire can hurt you. The whole process becomes a template. Once there is a fire, your body takes a look at that certain template was formed and acts it out the same way.
This is the same with our personal growth. Certain templates were created over the years that define how we react today, how we see life, and how we believe in the future.
Back in those days, we may not have the right foundation to combat the experiences of hurt, disappointments, despair, and depression. This may have made us create wrong templates to solve those situations. And those templates may still be operating even until today.
Maybe, those were the templates that held you back from believing that everything is possible. Maybe, those were the templates that held you back from tapping the imaginative side of you. All these templates are created because you were broken in the process. Trusting others. Trusting yourself. Trusting God. This is the wall that I call the Limitation on Trust.
People usually look forward and try to connect the dots before anything happens. But in reality, we cannot see dots connected in the future. We can only look back and see how the dots of our life were connected after all.
All we have to do is to trust ourselves back, trust God and the people He brings into our life. God never wastes an experience, good or bad.
This is why God has to renew our mind daily to cast down every template, system, and response that was created by bad circumstances. We have to move forward past our bad days and look towards the good that is to come.
When you are faced with this limitation – Limitation on Trust, submit yourself to the renewal process. Learn to let go. Learn to accept. It was what it was. It is what it is now. Learn to trust again. Like a child trying to learn how to walk the first time. Trust yourself again. Trust God again.
