This Introspect article will delve more on the holistic and spiritual side of our time today. Where are we today? Where are we going from here? What do we have to do while we are in this crisis? What will happen in the days to come? While our government is trying to grasp the situation, and scientific people are developing any cure if there will be, I got some thinkers from different active ministries from the province of Iloilo to seek their perspective on this crisis. Also, I will be contributing to what I believe is happening in this part of history.
When this pandemic exploded in the face of the earth last February 2020, God brought me to John 14:12-14 where Jesus emphasized that who believes in Him shall do greater things in the days to come. I shared this during a tea fellowship at Mrs. Wharton London Bakes and English Teas, SM Southpoint with other youth leaders.
I shared with these leaders that our generation is coming to a point of great entrance for a generational innovation. I did not know back then the extent of innovation that God was showing to me. But I knew there will be a huge transition that will happen in Iloilo at the very least. I knew then that small is the new big. However, I did not know that it will need a closing down of businesses, churches, and other establishments. I may write a separate introspection about the decade of new generation’s innovation.
Back then, I mentioned we entered into a decade of new generation’s innovation. Church life will be disrupted by this innovation. Businesses will have to catch up with new business models to cope up with this innovation. The government needs to reach a point of effective future analysis and prognosis of what is to come for better preparation. Basically, we are now in a season of transition.
Sadly, it took a worldwide pandemic to get our attention to this transition. I don’t water down the essence of life at the moment. We have a lot of front liners who lost their lives fighting this crisis. We have so many casualties and it’s tolling on our records day by day. Pandemic is a real scenario. And we value the lives lost in this war.
Yet also, I want us to look forward from this point in time. Here are some other perspectives from different personalities in different ministries.
“To say that the COVID-19 break-out shook the earth is an understatement. But I firmly believe that this shaking is not for our demise though. It is a much-needed call that heaven must release to the world, especially to the Bride of Christ – the church. This shaking is just what we need so that we can clearly see how utterly frail and weak and limited material things and humans are and realize how invincible, indestructible, and unshakeable God is! It’s a call for the heathen to acknowledge Him as the ultimate power on earth. Its a call to the church to get back to the heart of Christianity – being one with Christ and in so doing, becoming more like Him. Becoming more like LOVE every day” said Marinel Gotera, Youth Director, Great Harvest Ministries Inc.
This statement of refocusing from Marinel is furthered by another perspective. “This is an awakening. To think more of heavenly things than temporary things. To go back to our first love. To seek Him first. To teach his people and to correct the stubbornness.” added by Maria Angela Lampa, Minister, God’s Passion Ministries.
Another perspective painted a more evocative explanation of one’s perspective. “The word “Metamorphosis”. As my brother and I are in prayer, God impressed to me the caterpillar inside the cocoon that later on became a beautiful and colorful butterfly. God’s message during this crisis is “total transformation” in us. God wants us to have a renewed mind, to control what we speak against ourselves and others, to guard our hearts, and to change the way we act in every situation of our life.” said Salvilen Joy Baroro, Minister, Overflow Christ-Centered Church.
“It also includes eliminating bad habits and old lifestyle that hinders us in being what God wants us to be. This lockdown serves us a time to reflect on ourselves. What went wrong and what went right in our lives. What are the loopholes that needed to be addressed and what are our strengths that need to be enhanced?” she added.
“This crisis brought to mind Hebrews 12:24–29.
24–And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25–See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26–Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27–And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28–Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear :
29–For our God is a consuming fire.” added by Marinel.
“This international lockdown/quarantine is like we are inside God’s cocoon for us (a place of isolation from the normal world) because just like the caterpillar inside the cocoon, we also don’t have that total freedom to go out from our houses and do the stuff we usually do. We are now in the season where God is dealing with us individually and personally. God is more acknowledged in times like this because we know that we can’t do it on our own and that we need the intervention of a Divine God to change the situation. I know God is speaking to each in everyone of us. So, we must take time to listen to what the Lord is putting in our hearts.” further explained by Salvilen.
We are indeed seeing God moves us from one decade to another. This very pandemic has been an alarm clock to signal a wake-up call, not only for the church per se but for all humanity. With this crisis, we are seeing reports of our planet is healing back from the demise we had contributed.
Three words to remember from this introspection: Call, Transition, Metamorphosis. These words all lead to a worldwide innovation in facets of society. For now, we pray that you will stay safe and God will keep you. We will release the succeeding parts of this introspection in the coming days, so stay tuned!
